I`d put it this way, based on the actual numbers.......

The more stars, the better statistical chance a recruit has of being a standout college player. The question is how much better? Someone calculated this. A 5 star recruit has a 1/12 chance of being an all-american. 4 star: 1/32, 3 star 1/133, and 2 star: 1/1,218.
1/12 for a 5 star is far from a guarantee of success, but you're still more likely to get an all-american from a 5 star than you are from a 2 star.
That being said, I'm sure the better coaches can actually do a better job at predicting success than these recruiting services' star systems.
